I think it works with WinMo phones, but I don't think iPhones have ad-hoc wireless abilities.
EDIT - Title should read: Wireless Tethering With Another Wifi Enabled Phone Confirmed
I just want to confirm that wireless tethering with the G1 and another smartphone does indeed work, and works about as well as it possibly could. I know this was probably a given to most of you since this has been in use for a while now from G1 to laptop and PC, but I had not seen any confirmation about phone to phone tethering.
I have a 8125 as my backup phone and since there is no Slingbox or Office support for the G1 yet, I still want to put it into use. Just to give you a run down, I installed tether-1.6.tar as everyone else does, started the ad-hoc network and my 8125 picked it up right away. I went to "Wifi" in my 8125, selected the G1 as the network to setup, left everything blank (the ad-hoc check box was already checked) and viola. It shows a 4 bar connection because the phones are right next to each other. I started up slingbox on my 8125 and it ran as smooth as ever, and I have EDGE, no 3G. So, now Slinging in the car has returned![]()
I am guessing this will work with just about any other phone that can connect to ad-hoc connections.

nice finding Gas! thanks for sharing. Any idea how far from your G1 can you tether?
