What exactly is rooting and how do you do it?

That may be true but there is an incredible amount of knowledge in the forums already explaining it.

start with any threads that say root, having rc30 and now rc29. you''ll find all about what can be done in those threads. because there is a lot you can do with it.

Basically its having superuser (Or sudo for short) access to your phone but if you never heard of "Sudo" or "Superuser" you really really don't need it on your phone

The reason everyone is saying things like "if you don't know, you shouldnt do it" is because if you are not really knowledgeable about the os, you can easily brick your phone.... and if you ARE really knowledgeable about the os, you have known what it is and how to do it for a long time.

There is a lot of material about "rooting" all over the net. If you really want to know what it is you're going to need to read for yourself. there is no simple answer.
