What about a gas price tracking app?

I was thinking about it this morning -- we need an app that will show all the local prices for gas. How many people run around trying to find the cheapest price? It would save time/gas. Just not sure how the prices would stay regularly updated.

When i used to own a BB with Nextel, i remember i could look up gas prices locally using GPS. I think someone will come up with it since it really is a pretty handy application, hopefully soon!

I think the problem is getting the information. In order for it to work you would have to have a pretty extensive network of users who input the information every time they get gas, and even with that in the smaller areas there wouldn't be a whole lot of information. Gaspricewatch.com has been around for a while and has a pretty good amount of action, but there still are not any updated prices in my area, and I live in a city.

I was actually thinking about an app like this last week, as well as an app that gives you the closest fastfood restaurants in the area based on GPS. Those 2 apps would be sweet.
