Default We need a Rom with Gestures!

All developer concentration should be aimed at enabling flash , including gestures, and streaming data through applications (eg. sport highlights) The more I messed around with my G1 the more I realize how basic it is. While simplicity is great the software needs alittle more to it. The biggest difference between the Iphone, the pre, and android is gestures. When flipping through photos, apllications, news and weather they always have a really great tranistion from page to page. Unfortunetly, my hopes may only be answered when Att and other mobile service providers aquire adroid devices. Then maybe high-end developers will take this phone to the next level. I personally would pay 29.99 for a Rom that full transforms the phone. I'm not talking themes I have those, my phones rooted and modded. Something that makes the phone funtion at the next level.

I played with the touch pro 2 yeserday and windows mobile even has a decent amount of gestures and transitions that just kind of put me in my place when I compared the 2 devices side by side. That is what this phones needs. The applications from top notch deveolpers will come abundantly when the interface gets serious.

You know devs coud code their applications to do that right? I guess people just don't feel like it is as important to them as it is to you. A great example is the browser steel. If you have multiple open windows, swiping your finger from left to right transitions you from window to window.

I have great transitions on my phone. Do some research and you will be amazed.

I agree I would like to see some more gesture related apps as well as rom. Where can you get the steel browser I want to give that a try?

To say "all developer concentration should be aimed at" three things because they suit your needs is rather shortsighted; I couldn't care less about Flash because I've only seen it used to wrap audio/video, serve up ads, or for silly timewasters, and I don't need/want any of those on my phone. Besides, Google has little to do with "enabling" Adobe Flash because it's not a Google product, and Google certainly cannot dictate priorities to another company.

I'm hesitant to mention it since I'm sure you've done some research prior to your post and surely know about this application, but certain transitions can be enabled via 'Spare Parts'; one can get animated transitions between windows, when rotating the phone, etc.

As for "streaming data through applications", I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. Are you referring to having an item in the notification bar for something you're interested in, eg a certain phrase from an RSS feed matches an interest of yours? Because, as you already know, that's not only currently possible but occurs with some frequency via numerous applications: I get notifications about new email; new text messages; notifications that a checkin failed/succeeded (usually succeeded) via a build server; etc.
I blame this man for most programming problems.

I've been saying for months that the G1 should have Opera-like gestures on it, how great would it be to open a web browser by tracing the letter "w" on the screen, or a gesture of your own choosing.

Personally I'd much rather be able to say "web" and have the browser (of my choosing via the standard Android way of doing things) launch, or "email" and have my preferred email client launch. "Web google.com" would open up the web browser and point to google.com much like "email nancy" would open up the email client and preselect the "nancy" contact, prompting me as to which Nancy if there are multiple matched contacts.

It'd be great to be able to say "calendar agenda" while getting ready for work in the morning and have an Android device tell me what my schedule looks like.

When you press "voice dial" (holding down the call button), look at the options. There is the option to tell it to "open" programs... such as calendar, which will open your calendar and show your agenda.... cool eh?
