Lightbulb .WAV audio recorder via USB mic

this thing is a great little device. it has a standard mini-usb port on it and with microSD for storage, space isn't an issue. i'd LOVE to see an audio recording application (i'm not talking full DAW software) that would allow for the connection of a USB powered mic (drivers of course being the variable) and the recording of at least one (1) audio wave form in .WAV or some other hi bitrate audio format.

this would be GREAT for in-the-field recording. this could be used not only for fun stuff such as recording live shows/concerts/performances, but also for recording spoken words, business meetings (the little "voice recorder" app uses the crappy mic on the phone), lectures, class meetings, et al.

basically, there are some handheld devices on the market that have condensor mics right on them. they record hi-quality audio and are used by audiophiles. lugging around a ton of equipment is a pain, so devices such as this are very handy for capturing decent, open air recordings.

too ridiculous or what? holler back.

Oh man, if I had space and a good battery on it there would be no way it'd use anything besides the G1 to record on. Soundboard, audience, with the phone in my pocket or in my hand sounds dreamy.

Sounds like a good idea and I'm sure the G1 could handle hi bit rate audio recording as it has 192MB of RAM and computers with less than that can do it, but the issue here would be the G1's battery as you suggested an USB powered mic other than it may be really possible to see an app like this.

i was thinking along somewhat similar (yet completely unrelated) ideas last night. i would like to be able to hook my camera up to the phone and use it to upload photos to whichever photo site (picasa in my case) i choose. or as storage if necessary for photos.

i like the idea of a mic though... i just wouldn't have to many (although there would be enough to buy a 45 dollar or so mic) opportunities to use it.

the phone has some many potentials...

Kind of unrelated, but I would also love to have an archive.org app for the live music archive. That'd be killer.

Couldn't you use the ExtUSB audio input instead of a USB mic?
