Sounds pretty much like Nintendog. Would be cool if other people's pet can join, so that the animals can play with each other![]()
Wagly [requires AI]
A pet simulation game, you create a 'pen' (presumably in your backyard) which is like a 3D box that the pet has to stay within, this give the ground and stuff. You do that using the camera and stuff and the pet will be there. [by box I don't mean a cube necessarily, but like a cube-like structure shaped to fit your backyard]
The pet is like a dog or other animal, it would have an artificial intelligence, and would hypothetically respond to stuff you do. Since you won't physically be able to interact with the pet, it might be best to go with an idea like having it respond to sounds, for instance, using the microphone, if you say something that sounds nice and pleasant then the dog could think your happy with it, if you sound angry it could think your angry with it. This is instead of the normal neopet-type thing where you would 'pet' or 'scould' the animal by pressing a button. Since you can't physically pet the pet but you can see them, talking to them seems more logical (we don't want to have users reaching out to pet they're virtual pets we've given them only to find out it's not real. There should be a legal warning saying that mental breakdowns caused by device are not the fault of the programmer/owner/person.)
Another cool thing about this would be, using the Accelerometer, you could throw a bone just like you would normally. So that would be interesting. It would certainly be better then the like neopet-type pet things anyway.
I just thought of this idea while petting some dogs. I don't actually want the App myself, I'm not particularly interested in it. But it sounded interesting, and if someone else developed it and implemented it in a cool way then it might actually be fun.
umm.. I suppose I have to state a license, I'll go with Public Domain, to rid myself of any cumersome connection with the concept.
Got any other ideas for features? Does the concept sound like a fun App?
Oh hey, this is my first post, so, hi.

Agreed^
Cool idea. I like.
lol... you have got to be kidding me... im sory to say... but that is a horrible idea....think about it... a giga pet dog on your g1 were not 5 yr olds... the g1 is "a big kids toy" were not children or pree teens for that matter... not only that im sure there would be several bugs on top of that... i cant get my phone to call one of my contacts via voice recorder... and you expect it to recognize happy or angry tones...lol... your nuts... im glad your enjoying the company of your dogs... but seriously leave the g1 out of it
That's exactly what I was thinking, that's why I posted it here instead of keeping it to my selfish self for one of my secret App ideas (most of which are pretty good actually, although impossibly difficult to implement due to they're overly feature-richness)that is a horrible idea....think about it... a giga pet dog on your g1 were not 5 yr olds... seriously leave the g1 out of it
But still, I wouldn't be opposed to someone making the App though, I mean, I certainly wouldn't pay a dime for it, but if it were free I'd give it a shot just for kicks, I mean, it's not like it has to be bad... it just has a very poor chance of being good. And anyway, it's not like there are a load of killer Apps for the G1 anyway, at least not in the terms of games from what I've heard of them (although I don't have a G1 so I don't truly know).
Although, seeing as my only reason for playing the games would be like if I'm stuck waiting for some appointment somewhere, or in a vehicle not driving but just sitting there. I imagine the animal being stuck at home would pretty much cripple the App... which is a fairly large oversight on my part, but whatever. Thanks for all the replies.
