Voice for the GPS

I know a lot of phones currently have a voice over for the directions when you use GPS, but I noticed that the android doesn't/I'm not aware of an app that does. If there is an app sorry, but if there isn't is it it possible to make one?

You, like many of the rest of us in the US, are waiting for the US version of AndNav2.

It does realtime turn-by-turn navigation and interfaces with the TTS (text-to-speech) library that someone else wrote for the G1. It sounds pretty robotic, but it works, and it's free.

Problem is they are trying to raise enough donation capital to purchase a dedicated US server, and they are only halfway there thus far.

There are a couple of other articles about another 3rd party app, but last I saw, those were going to be on the order of $99.....you could purchase a superior GPS nav unit for that price.

looks very promising. patience is a virtue.
here's a video of copilot on iphone. it supposedly runs even smoother on the g1.
