    Just want to add a BIG vote for this!

    It would be insanely cool if the Android webcam application could have Linux/Mac/Windows backends, in the same way that Gmote works. These backends would register the Android video feed in the OS as a standard webcam. Then any existing application could use this webcam device.

    I know of many and I for one would love an app like this. Use it as a webcam/sound recorder wirelessly over WiFi or BT. To be used as a child watcher f.ex. with a program that see the phone as a webcam/mic and use the program to see/hear what the phone can see/hear.

    Not necessarily over a chat program.
