oh, sweet a fellow orlando g1 addict! I have this kind of thing where XM radio alerts me of traffic incidents on my navigation on the car, but it is very unreliable.. it gets updated too slowly.

I doubt this kind of thing would be useful because accidents happen so fast, and by the time you get a notice of it, its already cleared up sometimes.

Thats why I was thinking if we get a big enough following there should be a way we the users can update notes in it to let other users know of a possible issue... like a tag in a certain location on a map that says I passed here at 2pm and there was a lot of traffic, or I got a ticket from a speed trap at 7pm

I'm not trying to be rude here, but I'm getting a bit tired of people posting ideas i nthe sugested apps section for ideas that have already been covered in known app releases or for features that are built into the Android OS.

I know we all have ideas, but there are a lot of things that people have already made. Google maps already has a traffic feature which has live traffic updates, construction updates and more. They have had this software for about two years now for Window Mobile, Java phones, and the iPhone.

For those who are not familiar with smartphones, please take the time to do some research. You'd be amazed at all the things the G1 will be able to do right out of the box. Also, take a look at the winners from the Android App challenge, there's some ncredible apps on there that will simply blow your mind.

I have read in this thread that you can get Maps to show green, yellow, and red lines indicating traffic congestion on major highways. How do I access this feature. I'm sure it's a dumb question, but I am truly lost on this one.

    Thanks in advance,

    -Scott

When you are looking at a map, press the menu button, then Map Mode. Choose "Traffic". Enjoy.

Works fine, except in my part of the world. I don't believe it works in many places outside of the US.

I know this post is old. But we have developed a traffic app named "Traksor".

It is based on Google Map and also integrated with Facebook. Features include 1-click route setting, Travel time estimation and community notification.

You can see www.traksor.com and try our application.

High Tower, welcome to AC. I cannot find your app on the market. And, when I go to the web page you listed, and click on the "download in Android Market" link it says page not found. Any ideas?
