Well, I've had an idea since the beginning of Android that for some reason can't be implemented or no interest, but to me would seem usful for most people. And takes advanatage of the purpose of intents in Android.
The idea is an "Event Suggestion" Planer. Two basic UI screens. One to fill out in a vertical list down the interface, Favorite restaraunts, Teams, Musicians, Coffee houses, to-do items like "Buy Milk", "Shoe repair", or just interests "Ford Flex", "apple orchard", etc OK for each entry there is a field for Item, within distance to participate, and within timeframe. So a typical entry would be:
"Mr. Goody's Restarant" "within 6 miles" (or "any") "after 4:30pm"(or you could put "any").
Once it is filled out you are done with entries until you want to add a new one.
The primary Home screen is just a vertical list of events with most pertinent at top. As you approach a location that offers the service it will be indicated if it fits within your timeframe and location parameters. The list is constantly updating as you go through the day or move to new locations. Each entry moves to the top as you get closer to its distance or timeframe. You simply check it now and then or you may set an announcement when an event that is important to you is approaching.
i.e. Home screen
Item Distance (time is automaticly adjusted to time)
Mr. Goody's 3.5 miles
shoe repair 6 miles
NY Yankees 25 miles 7:00PM
Rolling Stones 29 miles 8:00PM
etc.
etc.
etc.
From the home screen you tap on a listing and the balloon box opens offering you several options, Directions, Call, About, etc. You can also scroll down the entire list to find events that are listed for later times or farther distances.
I am always so bad to plan social outings for myself, that they are over and I am jogged when someone tells me they had such a good time at the event. I've thought about a service that would take care of this for me, but that would be expensive even if there was such a "live" service. So I think the app would prove to be a benefit for those who want an active life but are scatterbrained like me who forgetto make plans.
