why dont u try and email your idea to the dev. of sms popup
How about a app that pops up when you get an SMS, but not only does it pop notifying you of the text, but shows you the text and has text box to reply quickly. I would love this since sometimes im going through my emails or something and I get a text, I want to reply but if I do, I have to exit and go to the message app, reply, home screen, then go back to whatever I was doing. Just a suggestion that I think would be useful. OR the text box could be in the notification bar when you pull it down (But some apps take away the notification bar like m:Mafia so the popup mechanism would probably work better.)

That's an interesting but useful concept. The app developer would have to add texting capabilities into the app though. Might not be that easy.

Eerrrrrrrrrr! Let's put the brakes on this here badboy.
There already is an app that does this !
Its called Handcent Sms.
You can get rid of Sms Popup because it comes with its own popup screen including a reply box that fits your needs. And its interface [the screen with your sent message and the ones they reply] look like the iphone one [it can be changed but I like the iphone style].. idk if I'm making sense.. but use that sms app. I'm usually skeptical about replacing my default programs but this def. Has to be one of the better ones. Oh and, also include the sms iphone widget. Put that on your homescreen. Make handcent default and you're good to go. [Make sure you shut off notifications for the default app are shut off]
Good app imo
i was gonna download handcent today simply cuz i clicked on it and it said that u could use you own pic as a background

No problem. I haven't tried the picture as a background thing, though.
I downloaded it to try it out and ended up liking it.
Idk why.. but if someone has a fix for the vibration... I need one that shakes better because the vibration on the g1 is terrible, imo.
If it matters to anyone..this is how I have my texts set up just in case you want any ideas on how to try out a new way of texting;;
-Handcent is my default text app
---> iphone style within the app. Default white background, default colors
- Sms Counter(iphone) on my home screen. Defaulted it to handcent
-stayed with sms popup, for the simple fact that I'm used to it more than I am used to the popup reply that handcent has for default
-all notifications for the messaging app that comes w. The g1 is off.
*sidenote*
A good app is also the one where you can editt the vibration patterns to that of one you like... you legit edit the length of it and such.. I didn't really try it out too much. I guess it takes to getting used to
