Default Send and receive text messages via computer

One of the best features of my Nokia and PC Suite was the ability to connect to the computer via bluetooth and send and receive text messages.

It's very useful at work because I don't have to use my phone at all. I would get a notification message when a text came in and I could reply straight from the computer.

The better question is: Why would you ever prefer using anything than the sexy-as-hell touch-screen goodness that is the G1?

Haha! Cause it looks like I'm doing work when I'm on the computer!

    BTW - I love my new G1!

This would actually be very helpful in certain situations (e.g., when I'm in class; when I'm in the library).

Is it possible to do this on the T-Mobile G1?

you know one thing I love about seeing old threads being brought back up (most of the time, like this situation) it probably means somebody's using the search feature.

welcome temporary guest. and yeah that is a sweet idea.

You can send txt msgs from t-mobile's website, until a program is created to do this.
There are no stupid questions, only people who refuse to use the SEARCH button.

this is an old thread but in my experiences there are now quite a few apps that due this. My first I used was Droid Messenger but it was really bad and went through the internet so not safe and i wouldn't recommend it but it does work. the three good apps that are competive are EasySMS which has great reviews but I still have to try it out, but it can connect through 4 different mediums - bluetooth, usb, wifi, and a webinterface - from what i understand. there is also textdro which is great and fast but lacks some basic stuff like copy and paste and group texting. my favorite overall is not well known and goes under the radar because its main job is not to do SMS on PC, but it does it better than any other app. its the PDANet application. the free version does a fine job and while the app wants you to connect to the phone for tethering purposes you can choose to just start the SMS Agent and not use it for tethering. There is also a bluetooth setup available but i don't use it ever.... well hope this helps anyone in this thread who still cares about this but really this post is for all the people searching the internet since this is one of the top links on bing and google and probably other search engines so from my favorite to least as a rap up
    1. PDANet (free-version has full SMS Agent abilities)
    2. EasySMS
    3. Texdro
    4. DroidMessenger
I know their are others too, but these are a great place to start and by reading comments on these you will run across others.

Try RPC Apps : https://market.android.com/search?q=rpc&so=1&c=apps. With this App you can remote control your phone via icq / msn / googletalk / sms ...
