I then tried other sources and surprisingly both values are right, in a way. The application processor inside the Jet is equiped with RAM and flash inside it's package. In case of the Jet it is 2x128MB SDRam and 256MB flash. Half of the RAM (128MB) are to be used by just one source (the application processor I assume) while the other 128MB are shared between two processors. The division is 80MB for one port (e.g. the application processor), 32MB for the other port (e.g. the baseband processor) and 16MB to be mutually accessible by both. My source is a datasheet of the memory module.

In total this adds up to 208MB for the CPU + 32 MB for the baseband processor + 16MB shared between both. Maybe the reason why this was not published everywhere is, that this tends to be a little complicated.

Many people say it would be difficult to use WinMo or Android on the Jet as the Jet has less storage than e.g. the I8000 or the I5700. This is not completely true. The only difference in memory between these phones seems to be flash-size. While RAM size is identical for all these three the S8000 has 256MB flash inside the processor package, the I8000 and I5700 have 512MB flash.

I hope this answers a couple of questions. And if you ask me, there is no doubt, that Android could work on the Jet. So, let's do it! If you like to support the porting effort, please take a look at the JetDroid project.

    Cheers,
    Dopi

    Hello from software developer

I am also an owner of Samsung S8000, and I am surprised how little info is out there about it.

I found no SDK for S8000, and no technical documentation, API, etc ... Porting Android to S8000 seems to be a good idea, maybe there could be a project born for that ...

It seems like there is already a project which aims to port Android to Jet: http://www.shcherbyna.com/?p=547

    I'm impressed guys.
I read volodymyrs blog and it looks as if Android is on its way in to the Jet! I would very much like to try to flash my jet with Android. Unfortunatly I am no SW developer so will just continue cheering your progress, too bad I can not help.
