    Default Rooting killed my battery

So I got bored and finally decided to hack my phone a few days back, and since then I have calibrated my battery twice trying to solve the problem, but rooting took my battery life down from about a day, to about 6 hours - even when not in use..

Has anybody else experienced this when rooting their phone? Has there been any solution found? Has anyone been able to talk tmobile into sending a new battery out for this BS lately?

    THanks.

    Yes:

    1. They will ask you to disable GPS and Location via wireless networks, tell them you did. Also add in that you only use GPS when the phone is plugged in.

    2. They will ask you to disable wifi unless you are using it, tell them you always do that.

    3. They will ask you if you disable bluetooth when not in use, again tell them this is a common practice.

    4. "Explain" to them that you did a wipe thinking that would help but the battery life has still been way worse since you got the phone.

    5. Tell them you removed any application which might have background processes.

    6. They might have you disable the search for 3g networks if you are in a 2g only like I am.

    7. if they say wait 24 hours and then call back, then do so telling them none of this helped the next day.

    8. Profit.

You should have called for a replacement battery weeks ago, just because

But for me the Battery life is the same, I suggest you call T-Mob or order your own Battery.

Maybe look on ebay for the P790 battery charger..

smoger smoger smoger... It's kind of sad how you jump to making assumptions about my intentions. Asking if tMob has sent batteries out lately does not imply that I expect them to fix anything. I bet this isn't the first post where you forcibly insert your foot into your mouth is it?

Well I am a little confused here guys - My battery was fine - In fact it was much, much better performing than any I have seen stats posted for - but now it has only about 1/3 of its previous life, simply from changing my firmware..

Could there be problems with the hack?

If tMobile replaces the battery and it is the same case, then I think I will just go ahead and move to a blackberry until there is a better device out for android.. 6 hours of battery while I am not even using the phone is... sad...

Rooting will do more for your phone then any rumors or speculations of an "expected update". Its only BS if you are not taking advantage of what root offers you.

I kinda experienced what you're going through right now. When I was going theme crazy I noticed that I had a lot of lag, more then before rooting. I backed up all my data, using Mybackup, and then completely killed the battery. I then fully charged the battery and did a FULL wipe. Ever since then I havent had any issues. Longest 1 charge, 1 day and 8 hours of full use.

Im noticing the same thing with my phone as well. I leave my apartment and by the time i hit the street, i notice battery draining. I have recalibrated more than once thus far, still same thing. I usually keep it charging with minimal extras running (gps, 3g screen brightness etc.). I do believe that it is the firmware on the jf 1.4.x that is causing it. But i like my root, so... I'll just wait it out

I didn't mean BS from the capability standpoint- I meant BS in that a majority of the people doing this, don't understand the implications of it. A good example today is in the comments for the upcoming update - there's tons of people in that thread saying they have rooted phones and have no clue whether they can or can't install the update, or whether they'll even get it sent to them.

Wow, so if you call back and say "Yeah I turned everything off and the battery lasted all day" they will say

"OK problems solved, just don't use any of your phones features and it will work perfectly"

May as well just say "Well sir, your first problem is that you are using the phone. If you stop using it and allow it to stay in sleep mode, the battery should last awhile."
