Yea I'm having trouble with that as well I bought it from vzw they said to save the message as a ring tone but I can't find the menu where that option is available
I downloaded ringtones to my new Droid. They are sitting in my messaging folder. How do I activate them or move them to my ringtone area?
Thank You

There are a couple of methods to set up new ringtones.
First invloves creating the following top level folders in your SD card:
alarms
notifications
ringtones
Transfer the ringtone, assuming it's an mp3, into the ringtones folder, and it should then be visible in the ringtone selection menu. Similar process applies to alarm and notification sounds.
One caveat, if the phone is connected by USB and the SD card mounted as a remote disk, attempts to access the ringtone fail and you just get a default ringtone.
Other option is to download one of the market place apps to create the ringtone directly from the selection menu. I was going to suggest Rings Extended, however there is a comment about not working on a Droid. Just do a search of "ring" in the market place.
I'm having the same problem as the others. I purchased a new ringtone and now it's sitting in a message. First, how do I create the folders in the SD card? Second, how do I transfer the ringtone to the rongtones folder?
Two methods:
a. Assuming message is in gmail, browse to Gmail on your PC/Mac, and download the file, mount the phone as a USB drive / insert card into SD card reader. Create the three top level directories using what ever explorer you have, transfer the ringtone into the ringtones folder. Unmount the USB drive / remove card from SD card reader.
b. On the Phone, start Gmail, select message containing the ringtone, should be a download button, which drops the ringtone into a Download folder. Download/Install Linda Manager from Android Market, it's essentially a local Explorer, and lets you create local folders in the SD Card. Once created navigate to Download folder, long press on the ringtone, navigate back to the ringtones folder, then do menu, edit, paste.
Assuming you manage to do one of the above methods, you might need to reboot, but if you now go into settings/.../phone ringtone, then you should see your new ringtone available as a selection.

The message is a text/MMS message.
Sorry, no idea. Although if you open the message, and can see the attachment, then perhaps a long press on the message / attachment will provide a download / copy option. I'd look at menu options and usage of long press to go further.
There was an original issue with the g1 in not being able to save attachments for MMS, I think they might have fixed that in later builds, if not there are applications in the market place to handle that issue. Search for "Save MMS".

heres what worked for me..while the ringtone is playing as a message tap the screen so the pause menu pops up. to the right is a little squarish icon, push it and it will save to your music folder. then go find it in your music folder, push the menu button and save as rigtone will be an option
