    Default Remote Lock and Wipe

HOW about a relative crude remote lock and wipe utility?

By crude I mean not a centralized solution like that for BlackBerrys.

For example, it can trigger certain actions (lock phones, wipe memory...) based on...

    1. Receiving a designated SMS
    2. An app running on the phone polling a remote server periodically

I would say no. 1 is a better solution because in general, SMS works more reliably than data.

Would this be used if your phone was stolen or something and didnt want someone to get your personal data and information? Cause that would be pretty cool. I think that the designated sms to wipe would be a good idea for something like this if I understand it correctly

Well, I have an app that's ready to be launched when paid apps are available in the Market. It remotely locks your phone Via SMS, but I don't have a wipe function on it seeing as I do not want to have to test that function on my phone :P

Looks like it's there, if you've got a rooted device...
