questions about building a theme

Im not as bright as most of you =) so i have some questions, well just one question, how do I make a custom theme?? Im rooted and atm im using a sweet skull theme from crotalusfreak over at Alldroid. but now that i know you can make a more perment theme then having to use a app like Panda or openhome i would like to learn how. so, if someone has some extra time to explain to me how i go about that it would be great! thanks
