    Default Pressure vessel app

Hello. I'm a mechanical engineer and i have searched for specific software for my work on android market but i could find only little software. I'd like ,if it's possible of course, a software like this http://www.coade.com/products/pv-elite . It's used to calculate the required thickness of pressure vessels according to ASME Standard, it has a large database of materials, it can calculate if a nozzle on a pressure vessel is sized correctly,it's used for heat exchangers as well. All and all it's a very good software for a mechanical engineer. Of course i don't expect to be implemented all of this in an android software right away, but if someone can start with only calculating the required thickness and to have a material database ( if it is possible to add material all the better ) i would certainly pay a few dollars for it in the android market and certainly there are more like me in this world.

Hy I'm happy to work on your suggestion. Can you please elaborate more as I'm not from mechanical background. If you have some other suggestion from mechanical field.

01_Design of Pressure Vessel.zipHello, sry to get back to u so late but i didn't expect someone to respond.I should tell u that i can't pay u hundreds of dollars but if u put good mechanical software on android market i think that your work won't be in vain.I put an excel file in the attachment (i hope it reaches u) so u get an idea of what to do.If u have some questions fell free to contact me on private and i'll try to answer them(i'll check the mail more often ).If u need i can also sent u an open source software complete with a database but written in visual basic.

Hi actually since you have all the formula in the Excel, there is a faster solution. Have you heard of Google Docs? You can host spreadsheet in the cloud and then download Google Docs for Android app to your smart-phones. Viola you can access that spreadsheet anywhere when there is internet connectivity.

All you need is how to port all those Excel formula to the Google Docs spreadsheet equivalent. This gives you maximum flexibility. If you want a native Android app built for that, it is just wasting time (unless you have features that cannot be put inside a spreadsheet) as Google Docs spreadsheet can give you what you want.

    Hi Cristi,

This app idea sounds interesting to me. This is may be because I am mechanical engineer turned into software developer. I am relatively new to android app development. But I looked at your excel sheet and I feel it would be relatively easy to develop app for it. I know you need more advance stuff in future like material data base but we can reach there step by step.

Before I jump into actual development would it be possible to know some background about who are prospective users? In what situation users would like to use this app? and what is existing tools (if any) used by users?
