    Is it possible to hack Android 1.5 to use AT&T as carrier?

    yes you can get your phone unlocked so that it can be used on at&t

    Thanks, Just found that out by searching ebay.

    Is it hard to unlock yourself?

    What is a good price for a used G1?

    I can't really answer those two questions, bought mine new and I use tmobile...

    I'm on att and use an unlocked g1. Its super easy to unlock...if you have the code. You can get one on ebay. Once the phone is unlocked, it will always be unlocked..Anything under $225 is a good deal for an unlocked g1

    Even unlocked it will not work on AT&T 3G. The G1 will work on TMo 3G (of course) and it has the "standard" for European and, I think, most Asian 3G.

    Asian 3G is UMTS2100 so the G1 works fine (UMTS2100 in Asia with the exception of some networks in Australia and some forthcoming secondary networks in Asia)

    I've so far used my G1 on networks in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and Singapore all support UMTS /3G

    While on AT&T it will use Edge for Data Access which is pretty quick.
