Hi,
I am a programmer in Windows and linux worlds.
I don't know anything about android world programming.
I was requested to study an app for android that works
as I describe here.
The GPS position of smartphone must be detected and
displayed on screen with Google maps.
Next the app must present a choice of locations
in the vicinity (a circle of 500 or 1000 metres or
something like this with addresses or specific
indication to go there) that are linked to the art or history.
May be a museum with sculptures or paintings or an
historical site (a battle, an historical rendez-vous
or something like this).
The app must be able to "google" on internet searching for
these locations and to parse the answers from these websites
presenting on screen a list of photos,
synopsis or little descriptions of these historical sites.
May be that the database of these historical sites
(for a region of my country, Italy, like Tuscany or Sicily)
will be assembled on a specific website database
with standard rules and searchable keywords.
In this case the app must pick up the informations from
this website database.
Now three questions:
Do you think this app may be assembled for android ?
If yes what is the most difficult part to program and test ?
What is the best : search and parsing from generic websites
(google, yahoo, ...) or from a structured web database
(with much more work to prepare).
Thanks a lot for your time.
