I would like to introduce you feaures of Android Parental Control app which is available on Android Market for free:
1- Select and filter installed apps
2- Overall and individual app restriction
3- Automatic restart of the app when phone is rebooted
4- Safe Sandbox - only show allowed apps (When restriction is on and Safe Sandbox mode is also on, app will display a page that only shows selected allowed apps)

This is a very problematic issue. I do agree that honestly speaking teens don't haму a necisity in smartphones or 24/7 coonection to the net. It even hampers their progress at school. But there are another obstacles - their classmate who do have gadgets. And they usuallly tease those who don't have smartphones today.
So, I thnk that it all should start when you buy a phone and make a contract, providers should limit the access from the particular phone to some contents.

There are accountability apps like covenant eyes for the android and iPhone and blackberry. This site has a listing of them per phone maker. http://www.parentalcontrolapps.com . Most are for parental control not forcing sellf control upon yourself like accountability partnerships that covenant eyes uses though. good luck.

I am recovering from an addiction to pornography. I've scoured the internet and have not been able to find any tutorials on how to make my android phone safe for my use. I was blessed to be able to do it. I rooted my phone with cyanogen - see cyanogenmod.com. I installed ES File Explorer and all the other apps I foresee needing. With ES File Explorer in root mode, I then moved the Browser.apk, YouTube.apk, and Vending.apk files to my sdcard and created a backup of those files on my computer. I rebooted my phone and the browser, youtube, and marketplace are now gone. That cuts off all risk for me. I love having access to gmail, calendar, google voice, gtasks, an ebook reader, music, etc. I bought the phone used and just use wifi so I don't have to pay for a data plan. I have wifi access 80% of the day. I don't know if this will work on your phone, but it did for me on a myTouch.

I am looking for something to block porn on my sons android as well. This forum, was one of the first things I found in google. I am going to keep looking and get back to you if I find anything..
