I like that idea a lot
Here in Manhattan, the 3G network is quite fast for me. Android's browser can load just about any page, and it comes out very usable. 90% of all web pages are as functional and enjoyable on Android as they'd be on a desktop or laptop. The only difference is the amount of panning and zooming, which isn't a hassle at all when you get used to it.
So why when I go to websites such as Newsvine, ESPN, or countless other useful sites am I automatically and non-negotiably redirected to the version of their site which is so thoughtfully optimized for viewing on a four year old candybar?
My proposal is something called notMobi, which fools the Internet into thinking you're browsing from a desktop WebKit-based browser. That way, if you feel your little green robot is good enough for a website, you can view it.
While it's true that SOME non-mobile sites will probably cause problems in the Android browser, at least with something like notMobi, you could have the option to find out for yourself.
I like that idea a lot
so youre saying you want to view non mobile siites, such as m.espn.go, instead you want to view espn.com site?
i can agree with that, but most sites give us more freedom than the iphone, like iphone users are stuck to viewing espn as an advertisement, no use on the site at all
but how about zshare.net, what do we need to do to get downloads of mp3 available, what is it that determines what is and isnt compatible? if u saving to the sd card who cares if its compatible.....

I'm all for this. I would love to have a choice on weather I visit a mobile site or not.
