Making a Theme?

Ok so i want to learn how to make themes, but i don't know what programs to use or how to, so is there any sites or threads that could help me on what i need to make a theme and what programms to use etc?

I will be trying to make that tutorial just a little clearer in the coming weeks, so if it baffles you too much just wait a bit and it may be easier to understand. Or if your really desperate, you could hunt around for my email addy and gtalk me I know I left that address somewhere around here...I'm always losing it...
