Someone should make an app that makes it easy to close other applications without running it in the foreground. It would be nice if we could close an application while still inside it, i.e. kill it when you're done with it. All the application killers I've tried out require you to run them as a separate app and select the running application you want to end.
It would be really nice if you could kill an app IMMEDIATELY when you were done with it. Like on a regular computer you can minimize or end an application, on Android 2.0 you can only minimize from within the application.
As the title implies, I think it would be rather clever and unobtrusive to allow users to kill an application with a long press on the back key, which to my knowledge currently has no function (long press mind you). Long press on the search and home keys already perform unique functions, and I think this is a logical extension of the back button. At the very least it could launch a dialog box with the option to kill or minimize the application.

Yes! This would be great. Loved that feature on the BlackBerry's.
this seems like it might be a little tricky. i would think to make the back button have that type of functionality it would have to be programmed into the application itself...i think this is a job for android to add it into their operating system as an option in the menu
