Did the update, worked first time with the 1 GB card that the phone has been shipped with. All settings still here, also the installed applications. Phone still activated and unlocked, so people outside US who can't get the update via OTA can use this method.

I just could not wait anymore, so I found a thread over xda-developers on how to download the official update, put on your micro sd card and update your phone.

    1) Download the update from google website: https://android.clients.google.com/u...-RC19+RC28.zip

    2) Rename the file you just downloaded to update.zip

    3) Copy the file update.zip to the root of your micro sd card.

    4) Now turn off your phone and turn it back on while holding the home key.

    5) When you see a triangle with a exclamation sign and a phone, slide open your keyboard and press ALT-L to display the menu and then ALT-S to start the update process.

    6) Wait for the update to finish. If prompted, press Home + Back to restart your phone.

    7) Wait a little bit more and done!

    Some pictures:
You should fix line 2 and say to rename file update (without .zip) (file is already .zip, at least in Windows Vista)

I did exactly what you said, renamed it update.zip and when I try to upload info, phone didn't recognize.

I deleted update.zip and install it again and renamed it update (without .zip)

And it's working now. G29 update is complete.

Thanks a lot by the way.

This is only true if you have your OS set to hide file extensions
