    Default Installing Magic/sapphire to G1

It's been discussed here and reviewed here and here we will tell you how to install it.
THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE ON A ROOTED PHONE

The 4.9 version can be found here and here
you can find the 4.5 version here or here
the 4.0 version (if you want to try it out, since it has different features) is here
you will need one of the above files downloaded to your computer plus
the hard spl file which can be found here

There is also a VERY STRONG RECOMMENDATION that you have nandroid running as well, in case anything goes horribly awry, instructions for this can be found here
the drivers which haykuro recommends you install also can be found here *I need some clarification on whether or not these are for nandroid or the installation though!!!* I did not install these particular ones, but I do have windows usb drivers installed for both fastboot and adb, and I know they work in lieu of these, I do not know however if the install will work with out them. If somebody will give me more info on this I will add it here!*
Ok, so you got nandroid installed with a backup "just in case" right? yes? And you have a fully charged battery? o.k. good! Let's get started

    1. put the spl file onto your sdcard named "update.zip" (remember windows users that the .zip will probably be hidden so you just need to name it "update")

    2. turn off the phone and restart it with "home and power"

    3. once it's done loading press alt + w (this is going to erase everything you have so back up before you do this if you need to)

    4. once the wipe (alt + w) is done, press alt + s (make sure you have a full battery) and wait until it is complete and says press "hold + back to reboot" press hold and back to reboot.

    5. delete the update.zip off of your sdcard

    6. Put the magic/sapphire version of your choice on your phone and make sure it is named "update.zip" (same rules apply windows users!)

    7. Turn off your phone and restart it with "home + power" go ahead and hit "alt + w" one more time for good measure when it's done press "alt + s" WAIT UNTIL IT IS DONE! when it is done, it'll say "press home + back to reboot" do so

    8. ENJOY!!!!

What if you already have the hard spl installed, you can just install the 4.0/4.5 update.zip Right?

currently I'm under the impression that it is a slightly different version, unless of course you mean this very one. I had the "other" hard spl also installed prior, but went ahead and flashed this onto my phone just in case. I think doing it is kind of won't hurt if you do, could hurt if you don't situations.

atleast until I get evidence contrary, I would recommend going ahead and using this one. it doesn't add much time.
