Yeah, glad I got it when it was free. Now he wants $8 for it.

Ok so here is my problem. I have no internet access in my apartment right now and I'm trying to root my G1 so I can tether. I flashed my G1 back to RC29 all fine and dandy. Then I press enter on the keyboard twice (other sites have said this is supposed to open a contact search). Nothing happens. No biggy, I type "telnetd" and then hit enter. Nothing happens. I double tap enter, hold it down, try every frikkin combination of keys I can think of, and NOTHING FRIKKIN HAPPENS. Well now I'm getting frustrated. So I go to the market and download a telnet client. Cool. It works. Cooler! I can connect to localhost... SUCCESS! Or is it? I type "su" and it returns "su: not found". I type "tar" and it says "tar: not found". What in the name of the FSM am I doing wrong???? Why does God hate me? Can't I just tether my G1 and drink that sweet, sweet Internet nectar from my laptop rather than the limited aperture of my phone?I need to get root access! Some kind soul please help... my email address is oz6702@gmail.com (obviously the easiest way to get a hold of me since it goes straight to my phone). Anyway, thanks for any help offered in advance.

op, why did you do that long process when you could use pdanet app from the marketplace? Im using the mytouch 3g with cyanogen mod 4.2.13 and pdanet and I just use a data cable to hook into my usb drive and it works fine for me and no battery drain problems like you have since im using the usb. Can the g1 not use the app and you than download the drivers on your laptop?
My bad, I read the first page and posted after that without noticing that there was 15 pages worth of other posts.
