Huge problem

So, I am fairly new to rooting and such and I just tried my first root using the guide given at "Android and Me". I got all the way through the process but skipped the step of flashing the SPL file because I thought it was optional. Then I got a tutorial for getting Hero on my phone from thegadgetpro on youtube and (long sotry short) ended up wiping my phone and because I didn't flash the SPL I can't update the new ROM and now my phone is stuck at the startup screen because there is basically no firmware on it. and I cant access my SD because my phone can mount without coming on. PLEASE HELP!

Seems like a lot of people following the androidandme.com guide fail.
And you're trying to run a hero rom? Do you at least have a class 6 sd card?
Doubt it, cause if you did you would have that little card reader that you stick your sd card into then into a computer.

By doing this you can put the files to flash on it, then boot your g1 into recovery and flash some firmware but if you can't do that, there's maybe ADB for you.
Or just go run and buy a micro sd card reader.

If you can get into recovery , you'll be ok . Get a card reader or someone elses phone with a micro sd and use it like a card reader . Ahugo as absolutely right . Btw , I used that guide , I thought it was the easiest

with a card reader, download rc29 (your rolling back to 1.0) and then upgrade from there until you get to 1.6 if you want to stay on the simple side.
