Acutally another method that works much better for me is downloading GO LAUNCHER EX, or just GO LAUNCHER (the non extended version) - (Read about all of it's functions on the market) but one of the nice functions is that you can HIDE ANY APP in your APP DRAWER. You just hit your opt button, select "hide apps" (All of your current apps including the bloatware apps that come with your phone are shown in a vertically scrolling list in alphabetical order). You just click on each putting a "check mark" beside each app you want gone and you're DONE. ALSO - you can re-arrange all of your apps in the drawer as well...ie; alphabetized, first to last downloaded, vice versa, most frequently used to least or vice versa, or completely comstom one by one in the order you want.

Now when you go back into your app drawer, you will see ONLY the apps you want shown.
***This is not the same as rooting your phone and ridding your phone of the apps, it simply HIDES them from VIEW. But it's nice to know that when you DO use your app drawer, you're only seeing the ones you USE fequently. For some, this may be a waste as they put all their apps that they DO USE on their home screens, but for others like myself who have a ton of apps, it comes in useful. NOTE: When you've got all your apps on your home screen(s) this dose slow your phone down (and I'll use the word "considerably") as each time you go to your home screen your phone needs to re-load all of those icons to the screens. HOWEVER: I STILL leave quite a few apps on my home screen(s) (and I've reduced that from 7 down to 2) but created folders so my phone has all the apps in there and does not get slowed down by the process of having to load all my icons representing the apps each time I go back to my home screen. I leave only a couple apps on there besides the folder(s) (1 on each home screen) that I use consistently throughout the day.
PS: If this has been answered below, please consider being a little forgiving as I did not take the time to read all the post/replies. First timer here and didn't want to forget the name of the app that enabled HIDING APPS while searching for a duplicate answer/solution. That's what happens when you're a 40+ year old android user, lol. You'll see someday. But for most of you, I'll wager that day will be when phones are virtual 3D images floating in the air and only dialogue takes place for operation, lol. Enjoy your youth and appreciate the fact that you've been born in an age where technology such as this is growing exponentially - and that you UNDERSTAND it much quicker than us old timers. Believe me, there's nothing more frustrating than having your 8 year old niece laughing at what she deems as your antiquated ways of using a computer or your learning curve regarding new software. Thanks for reading the first post, hope this helps!

My apologies to the duplicate post. I do not understand why this happened. I clicked on EDIT and put in the "Reason for Editing Box" (Spelling errors) corrected them, and clicked on "Post". This produced 2 of the same posts. Maybe a moderator or someone can advise as to why this happened?

The reason all this hiding of apps and other fanciful stuff is available cuz all these third party launcher apps have taken over the role as the Launcher which manage apps icons, launch, widgets etc functionalities.

Try to do such stuff using the Android default or aka stock Launcher and it will be difficult. In fact without rooting or un-documented API, it is hard for third party apps to duplicate those features on the Android default or aka stock launcher.

I feel the need to bring up this issue to end users. Think deeper why you need to switch to the third party launcher to get those effects and features? Why can't the app perform those magic within the Android default aka stock launcher?

I have the Sprint HTC Hero running on Sense 3.5 with SetCpu I'm overclocking it just a bit and it runs so smooth with barely any extra battery usage.

I previously had CyanogenMod on it.
Worked great also, just get SetCpu and overclock it a bit and then its a pretty good phone.
