    Lightbulb Hero/Rosie Step-by-Step

    Hero/Rosie Step-by-Step

So you wish to get Rosie? A little afraid/unsure about how to go get her? Well here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get things up and running and as smooth as possible with her!

*The purpose of this thread: to quickly and efficiently flash and modify Hero w/Rosie, without having to dig through approximately 160 pages.
*Mods: if you wish to move/merge thread, by all means, go ahead.
*This guide is really a compiled piece of work from others as well. I had some problems flashing and pushing this mod/app_s along a couple of days ago, and after listening to some other suggestions, it made obtaining Rosie that much easier. Thank you everyone in advance who helped me
*If there are suggestions/changes that need to be made, please let me know.

    **Please, you must be:
    *Rooted
*Have latest radio update (update radio before SPL)
*Have Haykuro’s SPL (update radio before SPL)
**NOTE** Press camera+power, see if you have a PVT or DVT.
PVT = GO, and good to proceed
    DVT = STOP.
*Run SDK, which can be found here:

    http://developer.android.com/sdk/1.5_r2/index.html

*Partitioned microSD card, using either Paragon or Ubuntu:

    http://download.cnet.com/Paragon-Par...html?tag=mncol
    http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

    **You should:
*Do a nandroid back-up!! If you need help with that, go here:

    http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f...android-15999/

Step 1. Download these files from the 2 links below:

    http://www.droiddeveloper.com/hrbuilds/app_s.zip
    http://www.droiddeveloper.com/hrbuilds/hero-signed.zip.

Step 2. Unzip the app_s.zip file to your “android” folder found on your C drive.

Step 3. Place the “update.zip” file on your sdcard, making sure it’s *just* named “update” (download should be named that already).

Step 4. Turn off phone. Hold power and home buttons. Alt-w to wipe, then Alt-s to load the Hero mod.

Step 5. Your phone will show the G1 screen, then either/both the little android will wave at you or your screen will go black/blank.

Step 6. Plug in your phone, open up command prompt/adb.

Step 7. Type in "cd c:\android" (this is assuming your “android” folder is on your C drive).

Step 8. Type in "adb remount"

Step 9. Type in "adb push app_s /system/sd/app_s

Step 10. Now is the time to get a drink/take a break. It may take up to 10 minutes for the 101 .apks to move on over and for Hero w/Rosie to load up. Don’t fret.

After you successfully flash Hero w/ Rosie, there are some additional things you can do to increase the speed of your rom. These are highly recommended!!

    1) Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521421

Download the latest version of HTC Hero Speedup. Unzip. Open the .bat file and choose your options one by one. You will be asked from time to time to reboot your phone…do it!

    2) Go to the Market and obtain an overclock app. Max = 528 Mhz and Mini = 384 Mhz.
    http://www.cyrket.com/search?q=overclock

    3) Download TA utility from the Market and move your Caches. Reboot!
    http://www.cyrket.com/package/it.tautility

    4) Use the old apps2sd .apk. Move apps, reboot. Move dalvik, reboot.

Remember, take your time and do not rush.

Does this method need the sdk? And it still needs to be on EXT2 right?

(I should have been clearer sorry all. This should have been an add step or clarification post)

See, this is why I don't do tutorials, now you're stuck answering questions in it doc.
@Pikcachu, following the instructions she outlined, yes, you do. This pushes the files to your g1, so you need the sdk. If you want to do it via Terminal, I believe it's this:
    Code:
    cd /sdcard
    cp app_s.zip /data/sd
    cd data
    cd sd
    unzip app_s.zip
...though I'd like Lazy to eyeball that and make sure its right.
And yes, you will still need the ext2 partition, either download the trial of Paragon Partition Manager 9 or burn Ubuntu to a cd and run it from there. There's enough tutorials on that around here, I won't go into that.
    First one's on me, Doc.
