did you install a custom theme?
For some odd reason I have to press the back button to get out of any application. My home button no longer activates on any application but it does light up when you press it.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on or how to fix the situation?
Also, my phone is set for password activation but when exiting any application or letting the screen go black...the password requirement screen isn't showing. In other words...even though password requirement is set...I'm never asked to put in the requirement to activate it.
Any idea's?
did you install a custom theme?
I downloaded an app called...aTrackDog. Obviously it's an app. to let me know when updates are available. I took the app. off last night when I noticed the problem.
Honestly though, I do not know too much about fixing this phone. Could someone tell me what to do? And I do not know anything about an "update.zip from a recovery console
My Home button quit inexplicably and suddenly two days ago. I had been trying to set the phone up to tether the day before, and loaded something on there by mistake and unzipped it, that should have gone on my laptop, LOL. I suspect that I corrupted the G1 software, but don't really know.
So i did a factory reset, and the Home button now works perfectly again. I would suggest you try that. Download two applications, Astro and MyBackup. Backup all your applications to Astro, and then you can restore them from there after reset. Backup your bookmarks and your home page icons to MyBackup (con't need to backup Contacts, as those get back on your fone from Gmail).
I'd suggest you try the factory reset -- worked for me.
thank you...trying now
I think I messed things up when I erased Google apps last night when cleaning some of the junk out.
Did factory reset and worked great. Home button is working again...
one question though...
how do i get the icons for all apps i downloaded to show up on main screen instead of having to look at them through astro?
If you successfully backed up your downloaded applications using Astro, then what you are seeing now is that they are all on your SD card.
After your reset, download Astro again from the Market. Then go into Astro, mash your Menu button, then mash the Application icon, and from there you will find your backed-up apps on the SD card. Then you have to re-install them one at a time from the SD card from inside Astro, but it goes pretty fast -- way way faster, I find, than re-installing them one by one from the Market.
Oh yes, one more thing you have to do or the G1 won't allow you to load the aps back on from the SD card:
Mash Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources (Allow install of non-Market applications)
