I purchased the CoPilot app on Thursday Night. The first time I downloaded the US maps it would not load them. I tried removing and reinstalling the app, but since it was less than 24 hrs they refunded and recharged my card. No joy, I sent in a request to customer service by their web site and got a response in less than 24 hrs, they said remove and erase the directory and reinstall and it should work. I did it, and after the third try it appears to have worked, I can now see the maps, but when I tried to put in y street address to save as a home location, it woud not accept the street name, it said it had no street level date for Centreville Va, (I have lived in this house for over 25 years.) On the map my street shows up without a name, but all of the streets around me have names. I have started reading some of the posts here and on another forum, and on one of them it said that the maps were 5 years old. If I had know that I would not have wasted my $35, things change around this area (DC Suburbs in Northern Va.) almost every week. I did look and even the OpenSource Maps show my street name. I checked my mother's address in Pa, and it does find street names, but it can't find her address (only the house across the street) like both the TomTom that I use at work and my wife's Garmin show the correct address. I know that this is their first Android app, but at this point in time I would not recommend it for use in the US, it may be better in the UK or other European country. I have sent in another request from customer service for an update about street level information, only requested about 4 hrs ago, so I don't really expect an answer until tomorrow.
I do like the Google App, except for having to enter a destination to go into the navigate mode. I want use it to watch for streets coming up ahead of me without actually punching in a destination, just like the Garmin or TomTom do. The map app kind of does it, but if I am going south then it looks like I am coming toward myself and it is not as easy to see the street names coming up ad it is in the navigation mode. I don't see why I have to be going to a specific location just so I can watch what is coming up ahead of me in the same direction that I am driving. Also since I am using Verizon I have been told that CDMA does not let me do data based apps (navigate) and talk at the same time, I haven't tried it yet, but I expect that I will loose at least some of the navigation capability if I was also using the phone.
