The G1 has both a compass AND an accelerometer. The Pacman game already utilizes the accelerometer by having you tilt the phone to guide Pacman.
As you know, there is like a seismograph reader, and a compass on the phone, wouldnt that mean that there is some kind of tilt sensor on the phone?
Ok, so say there is, wouldnt it be possible to make those cool games like on the iPhone, that require tilting, for the G1 phone??

Because it's not the iPhone.
The API calls are there to allow developers to do this (the Video Player in the Market already orients the screen image based on phone position).
I, for one, am kind of glad the screen doesn't switch positions every time I drop the phone in my hand to my waist while walking, then look at it again, and wait for the screen to normalize.
I also have a feeling that a 3rd party developer will release a control panel extension that 'forces' the system to use accelerometer reading to orient the screen if the user wants it that way.

I'd like a tilt extension for the browser... or just landscape by default... I always like to browse on my phone in landscape...
