    Default G1 crashed, android.process.acore

First of all, this forum needs a dedicated help section. This thread is probably going to get folded into another cupcake thread, with about a hundred pages of posts where no one will find the answer if they ever run into the same problem I have. One section of the forum for problems with the G1 might helps straighten things up a bit.
I've had JF's 1.5 A2SD running on my phone for about a week, give or take a day or so with no issues at all. Yesterday, I tried accessing maps, and get a force close message. I've used maps throughout the week, this is the first time it happened. After the force close, I get a cascading failure, calendar force closes, weatherbug force closes, etc. until it gets to android.process.acore, once that happens, thats the ballgame. Wiped, reapplied th efirmware, restored, good to go, right? Well, I opened maps today and the same cascading crash happened, I get the force close message for process.acore, it just keeps looping with no end in site. I've never heard of this issue before, has anyone else had this happen to them? Is it a problem with the firmware, or does it sound like a problem with the phone itself?

I agree that a dedicated help forum would be great. Wish I could help you out.

I had similar problems with my phone, which is also running JF's latest... once I started getting the "android.process.acore" I was done. So I reverted the phone back to original firmware, gained root access and Im now going to try a different build, like haykuro's or the Dudes... BTW, the screen was not responding at all while all of this was happening.

These exact problems happened 2x when I was messing with earlier builds. For the first example/time it happened, I wiped, reflashed my radio and SPL, then the MOD again, and everything was good after that.

The second example/time it happened, it was a different MOD, and after reflashing the radio/SPL again, then the MOD, I STILL had issues. I was still getting that error message so I decided to reformat my FAT32 and ext2 partitions and volia, no more problems.

Sounds like you're in that boat

    So, in a nutshell...

Symptoms? Everything pretty much force closes, pop-up errors, AND screen does not respond to touch.

    Diagnosis? Corrupted MOD and/or sdcard

Tx plan? Wipe and/or reformat SDcard

    Prognosis? You'll be fine

As soon as OP mentions AP2SD, I immediately thought, it must be related to that.
Too have so many apps failing.
Android apps cannot interfere with other apps.

    "Self contained doom."

    Re-check all things SD.

I'm still anti-AP2SD. too fishy for me.

    Hi Kitsunisan.

I had a similar problem but it was with calendar.android.app or something with calendar.com blah w/e.

So that **** would pop up and my status bar would like go blah (no icons)... then my phone would self reboot, load up home screen, repeat process. reboot... repeat...

I did the apps and dalvik to sd, not the data. For some reason, it appears to be my data on my ext2. I haven't been able to reformat my ext2 so I haven't linked my data2SD. So far so good.

If it is a corrupted file, it doesn't matter which way you link it.

Linking corrupted file(s) will mess up your phone until you wipe it (cancel the link).

Figure out what is causing it.

    App, data, or dalvik.

Then don't link it. Linking App/data or app/dalvik will still give you a serious amount of space.

I'm almost certain it's data, as I've never seen people say anything about dalvik-cache.

I've gotten used to making daily backups of everything, it only takes a half hour to get back up and running. Disappointing, since I've been going around telling everyone how stable 1.5 has been, and it has for the most part. Thanks though, good to see I"m not the only one rowing this particular boat. Wish we knew what was causing it, maybe the official build won't have any issues.
The only thing I link is the apps and the dalvik, if its a system link doing it, it'll be one of the two.

Looks I like I won't be trying apps or cache 2 SD, unless google comes out with something official to do that. They should have made the internal memory bigger on the phone.

N E one know if the magic will have more space to hold apps?

Sorry to hear bout all ur troubles Kit
