First Custom G1 theme Released!

Honestly, gasbot, not trying to offend anyone but this forum's population is not really concerned with hacking the G1 as much as the people over at the XDA are. Also, the majority of the XDA population has root on their G1, while many people over here do not, and those that do are generally not open to trying these type of things for fear of bricking their phone and the difficulty it is to bring it back to life. (Mind you that with the dev bootloader a brick G1 will be a rare thing now)

Generally the themes are more welcomed over there then they are here, as you can see above, I have posted something like 4 posts back to back. So I don't see the demand which would warrant me to continue to post findings and such here.

In fact, I will not be posting any more "technical" information here because this forum is not really geared towards the more technical aspects of it. Those that are interested in the technical aspects, are mostly already members of XDA.

Also, while I hate to say this, This may be my only theme that I push. I did not do this to simply make themes, I did this for two reasons:

I did this to make my phone more appealin to myself,
And to encourage other people to start pushing out themes.

I post updates to fix things in my themes, and to improve them. I am trying to showcase what can be done with the phone to make it better. These things that I am doing, such as the transparent notification bar, custom buttons, slider gone from homescreen, etc. are things that I want to see developed on. I want to get people to do more than just change the color of the status bar, or change the default wallpaper.

I am already working with one person, to specifically help him push his themes out because I have seen his prior work and it is amazing. He has already previewed his first theme and got great reviews on it.

I personally, want to be able to focus more on the inner workings of Android rather than working on different themes all of the time. So, ultimately, I hope no one will be too depressed with the fact that I probably will not be pushing any more themes after this.

Though, I will still push out things that I think are groundbreaking in this area and should be developed on further.

Just wanted to make clear my intentions here.

Also, while I was fully supportive of android community, I have lost faith in them. Originally, the community was providing very useful information but that has since declined to a level of non existence. I am participating in these forums because I have a strong desire to know everything about this platform and to help others. This community doesn't teach me anything and the majority of the conversations contained within this community are slightly pointless, just mainly people talking just to talk. While there is nothing wrong with this, I want to be a part of a community that will teach me more about what I am interested in. Right now, in its current state, Android community cannot provide that. I will still remain active within the community, but my technical posts will remain over at XDA until I see a reason to discuss technical matters here. As a dev, I am also not going to learn anything here that will help me learn, other than the opinions of users.

Ok. One of the things that I really did not like about my G1 was that I could not put in a customized theme...apparently I could! WOW. So do I just need to root my phone in order to do this??

I think I will wait for my husband to come home and root it for me coz I just know I'll do something stupid and brick it hahahahaha.

Also I am in RC30 (still don't have the RC33 update), will it still be ok to root it or am I too late?

Doesn't matter beacuae in order to get root access you will need to downgrade to RC29 anyway first.

First off, your just now responding and this post is soo old and at the time that I first started creating the first theme there wasn't a very big interest.

Secondly, the interest that exists now, became because of the interest from XDA when I pushed all my work there.

Thirdly, I was somewhat put off from Android community when a Mod told me I was being too technical with the users here and told me I need not be so technical. He also told me that Android Community could not be held responsible if people bricked their phones and therefore implied that I was jeopordizing, or increasing, that risk.

So, I would have had a lot more input in this community if those things hadn't transpired. Btw, I still have that message from that mod.

Hey i really REALLLY like this theme... can i get it for rc 33? and if so do io neeed rc33 lite?
i couldnt find the link anywhere.. someone wana help me i really like this theme thanks.
