The Hero theme works on Dude's 1.2, is 1.3 so different it can't use the same themes? I haven't tried 1.3, but 1.2 had a few to choose from.

Apply the theme, extract the camera from Dude's rom, adb push to your G1. Works just fine, check out the Hero theme thread over at xda, people have discussed that. Nand your phone, put on Hero, then push the camera, see if it works for you. People have been getting force closes without a wipe, might want to try that first.
Thanks Kitsun
I'm going to try it out, when I get home.... I'm stuck with the "SuperHero Beta2" for now

Well, if anyone wants it, here's tehseano and moonsspoon's Hero 1.3.5 build, without the camera replacement. Chrisag92 and R_Dub over at xda openeed it up and removed the camera update, so it should work fine without losing the HTC camera you have on Dude's. Should be no issues at all with it, jus tnand in case you want to go back, then flash the update.
One thing to keep in mind, I'm not sure if tehseano changed this or not, but the theme used to start out with the 4x4 clock on the screen, if you don't leave all but the bottom row of your home screen blank for it, you could wind up in a boot loop, there has to be room for the clock there. Back up your shortcuts with mybackup and delete the shortcuts from your screen before using the theme.

Chrisag92, manup and R_dub also did some work on the Hero clock widgets, if anyone is intersted in them: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=525964
