Default figuring out why my rooted Cyanogen 4.1.2.1 phone is slow

Hello, I've been having problems getting the legendary speed out of cyanogen's ROM. First my setup.
I've been running the last stable version of Cyanogen for a while, but got the updater and have been trying the experiemntals to see if they improve anything. Currently I'm running 4.1.5 as of this morning no real yep so far.
    Firmware 1.6
    baseband 62.50s.20.17U....
    kernel 2.6.29.6-cm4
mod and build number cyanogenmod 4.1.5 DRC59

I have an 8GB Adata SDHC 6 card formatted in FAT32, EXT3 for apps, and a 128MB swap partition. I have 365MB of 471MB free for apps right now, and 52.07MB free of internal memory.

I'm running the large PF voicemail+ widget the large calendar widget on the home screen, and music and toggle settings on two of the side panels.

This build I'm noticing alot less in random processes running in the background over and over again, but its still slow as ****. 5-7 seconds to open settings. 1-3 seconds to pull up the apps menu. The worst is getting a call 1-3 seconds before it lets me see who calls (getting the menu lock screen for a second before it pops up).

What drives me nuts is all the reports of how fast this ROM is, and one of my coworkers who has a G1 with T-mobile like me, and its lightning fast compared to mine and its not even rooted.

Any help would be much appreciated.

The experimentals are exactly what they say, experimental. His donut version is slower than normal but will get better with every build. There is supposed to be one coming out again this evening. I run 4.0.4 on my everyday phone and do the testing, experimental, on my other phone. If you need the speed, go back to 4.0.4.

My thinking is its not the ROM really I'm thinking its something with the phone because I've had problems with it with JF, Cyanogen 4.00, 4.02, and 4.04. Have there been reports of people with bad hardware that cause slow downs?

I ran 4.04 for quite a while and it was by far the slowest I've run.

As a last resort, have you done a factory reset? Sometimes that fixes the problem, sometimes as you said it could be hardware. If you do a reset, grab astro file manager from the market and use it to backup your apps. It won't back up the private apps, but you can download them again from the market.

He's already been there and said that was the slowest of them all. I went with on this one, wipe.

Unhappy Re: figuring out why my rooted Cyanogen 4.1.2.1 phone is slow

I've experienced the same problems with my MT3G. I used to have the G1 and it was way slower. So slow that I upgraded to the MT3G. Do you think this is caused by too many widgets, too many apps or not wiping before I install a new version of Cyan or one of the compliant themes?

I do not have Apps2SD installed. Does this speed things up? I just don't see a need for it since I still have 190mb of app space available.

Your memory looks good, try doing away with the widgets and see if that helps.

I removed 6 widgets and now have a total 11 precious widgets and seems to be running smoother.

Isn't having widgets the advantage of having these phones? There needs to be a list of which widgets make the phone slow down so we can avoid them. XDA devs here I come... maybe.

I don't think it's an individual widget that causes the problem, its just the amount that you had installed on your phone.
