Default Fastboot driver won't install (Nandroid problem).

So I decided to switch back to RC33 until all of the Magic bugs have been worked out, and ran into some trouble using Nandroid. This is my first time using it, and yes, I did make a backup before the flash.

When the phone is mounted to my computer normally or through ADB, the drivers work fine (ADB interface). However, when I attempt to boot into fasboot mode, the driver reverts an "unknown device" -- Android 1.0 or something like that. I've tried specifying the driver location (the same driver I used to get ADB working), but Windows consistently tells me the driver hasn't been found.

Basically, I can't flash the images back to the phone, because my computer isn't recognizing the G1 in fastboot mode. Any suggestions? If it helps, I'm running Windows 7 Beta on a 32-bit machine, with Windows XP on dual-boot.

do you have fastboot.exe in your android folder on the puter? try putting the usb driver in that folder as well. where is it located now? it shouldn't matter though. mine was on a usb hard drive and win xp still accepted it when i pointed to it.

Yep, I've tried it with fastboot in the Android folder, as well as in its original SDK location. So that doesn't seem to be the problem. Does the same driver work for both normal and fastboot mode? Could that possibly be the problem?

    Oh, one last question:

If I'm reverting from the Magic 4.5 port, with the new radio update applied, back to my JF 1.42 version, with apps and caches moved to SD, is everything restored exactly the way it is? Or do I have to apply the old radio update, or go through the apps/caches-to-sd process again?

i do not think i was ready for you to put words in quotation marks. i'll think about what you really want when you put your search in quotes and try to return something that makes sense.
