    Default Event Invite

I was disappointed to find (or maybe I should say NOT FIND) that with the Android's included calendar application, you can't send invitations to your Google contacts to scheduled events. At least, I haven't been smart enough to pull it off. Google should get this basic functionality into the calendar app or someone should code a more advanced Calendar and scheduling app.

    A calendar on steroids!

I haven't really played with the Calender app but since I read your post I wasn't able to find a way to send an invite as well.

I'm surprised that you're the only one who has replied. Maybe I'm the only one who actually uses Google Calendar to coordinate with his friends and colleagues the way people do at work with Outlook/Exchange. Hmm. *shrugs*

I thought this would have been a bigger need and priority.

BUMP --- Am I STILL the only person here who uses Google Calendar to coordinate and schedule events/invites with friends and family?

If not, anyone found a calendar app replacement that will take care of me?

Actually, I would love to see this feature added as well. I am getting more and more of my friends and family switched to gmail and Google calendar. We all share calendars and the ability to send and accept invites from my G1 would be a very nice feature.

Actually, you can. If you point your browser to: m.google.com/calendar

I just think that this functionality is pretty basic and should have been included in the calendar app.

I completely agree JaceMan. I just purchased the Moto Droid and was amazed to find that while i can send an invite, I Have no way of accepting invites. There is absolutely no support for ics attachments through the mail client.

Hard to believe all these advanced features, and no support for something the should be a 1.0 feature IMHO.

Hoping with all the buzz around Android right now, this will wake someone up and get a fix released.

Great...so it looks like they give you the option of sending invites in 2.0.

On my MT3G I can receive invites from my wifes iphone, it does not handle them in the native mail app but it directs me out to google calendar in the browser, where I am able to add the event...not perfect by any means...but it will work for now.

I am glad to find this thread and am posting to get it bumped back to the top.

"Is there an App that allows you to go to a contact and schedule an appointment for them in the calender? or go to calender open a new event and beable to add contact info to that event. "

The couple of people here cannot be the only ones in all of Driod Land that want to schedule appointments with contacts...and if we are the only ones to think of it I guess we need to make an app for it ourselves. It would end up being so popular that we would end up not even needing to keep a calander because life on the beach would be so simple! (^:
