Default Encrypt and Backup Android phone data to a server

I was thinking of developing an app which will allow the user to synchronize important data with a third party server as secure backup, if the phone was lost or crash he could restore all details such as contact details, messages, images....etc

data will also be encrypted on the android phone before sent to the server

Or google can add more functions to gmail for g1 users, such as syncing texts, pictures and more additional contact info. So gmail syncing can be more unified and easier.... like the sk's hehe.

This is similar to an app that I'd really love for the G1....

On my Blackberry, I had a program called IdeaMatrix. It had an app that would install on the Blackberry, and allow you to create catagories and folders. you could then create notes in the folders, and what was great about it was, everything was backed up online.

You could also go online, to the developer's site, enter your password and user name, and you would have access to ALL of the notes you created on your Blackberry.

You could also add notes, delete notes or edit notes online. When you logged out, the site would send an e-mail to your BB, instructing it to "hot sync", so that your data would always be duplicated on your handheld device and on the website.

This was GREAT! Notes that I entered on my phone, I'd always have access to as long as I could go online, and if I was at my computer, and wanted to enter a quick note, or a long note I didn't feel like entering on a small cell phone, I could enter it online, and within seconds, it would be stored on my phone!

Best thing was, when my blackberry crashed, as it did twice, simply reinstalling the software and entering my user name and password would restore ALL of my notes, back onto my handheld device!

I think something like this would be GREAT! It is SO much easier to be able to enter notes on your desktop/laptop, and have it instantly transfered to your G1.

This sounds like it's a little LESS involved then what you posted.... perhaps I"m mistaken.

I'd rather back everything up onto the SD card.

That way if you accidentally had a hard reset or had to switch phones or a warranty exchange.....viola....a couple of screen touches and you are back in business in a matter of minutes.

I'd much rather do that than have online storage somewhere. I guess that could be an option as it does have some benefits. But you could back up the entire contents of the phones internal memory onto the 1GB card that came with the G1 with room left over!

Hell, yeah. It would be great to be able to backup my texts and pics to a server somewhere (secure, of course), on a service similar to Nokia's Lifeblog. What is within Google's reach is Picasa integration (like what Pictorial does), and SMS messages get treated like GoogleTalk chats

Hmmm. There's Google Notepad, Google Bookmarks, Google Docs, Picasa -- all opportunities that the 'Do No Evil' company would be directly incentivized to develop mobile extensions of

As far as I remember, MyBackup doesn't backup the phone options as well. I'd love for an app to backup EVERYTHING, including my options, my "desktop", my wallpaper, and possibly even provide a list of installed apps.

I'd prefer it to go to the SD card as well. Because you can use backup software to auto-backup the SD card when the phone is plugged into the PC.
