Deleting Native/ Default Apps

I have quite a few default apps that i dont use at all and dont plan on using such as amazon mp3, email, im and messaging

i am not sure on how to delete them or if its safe to do

reasons i dont want...

Amazon-- just dont use it

Email-- have gmail dont need it

im -- using ebuddy so dont need

messaging -- using handcent

my phone is rooted and running cyans 4.0.1
recovery image 1.4+jf

any advise

this is what I do after every update, messaging you cant take off cause Handcent uses it
and here's a couple extra you can take off such as Gtalk, and etc
type into terminal, follow the spaces,

su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
rm /system/app/com.amazon.mp3.apk
rm /system/app/VoiceDialer.apk
rm /system/app/VoiceSearch.apk
rm /system/app/Talk.apk
rm /system/app/IM.apk
rm /system/app/SoundRecorder.apk


edit: before you go, please make sure you make an Nandroid Backup before you actually type in those commands as a precaution.

Would you be able to remove an application like youtube once you have the phone rooted?

I want to delete the default browser and home on an unrooted g1 is this possible or safe if I have skyfire and zeam/home++
