Cupcake 1.5 (ADP / JesusFreke Builds)

I have the non-root cupcake. It's cool. Now I want root.

1-- Is there an update.zip I can install that will give me root, or do I need to downgrade first? Seems like a pain.

2-- Can I get root without wiping the contents of my phone?

You're going to have to down grade first.

Just follow one of the many guides, you'll downgrade to RC29 first.

There's a great one all on a single page at Android & Me. It's the guide my husband and I used. Just follow the directions carefully - don't skip any steps or you'll have some frustrating moments. Been there, done that! LOL

I already have ADP. I found JF 1.5 US on the JF updater this morning. I was wondering if I should Download and flash. Or should I just stick with ADP?

A lot have tried JF 1.5 US and gone back to ADP, myself included.

I manually downloaded the G1 1.5 update, and I'm wondering if I can still receive the OTA update for 1.5?
I'm thinking no since I'm technically already "up to date", but I just want to confirm it with somebody who knows for sure.

And if not, will I atleast still be able to receive other future OTA updates, or am I stuck with having to download them manually?
