I'll keep the tip in mind in case anyone else needs it, thanks. Although I haven't had a problem with my case. Maybe its only an issue with some of the phones.

I have the bronze. The screen is tight, but the bottom right corner of the back battery cover/case is loose and makes a clocking sound, usually when im texting and my hand is on the back as i type.

I also have a black one. It didn't creak the first couple of days, but over the past few days it has started creaking pretty much whenever im handling the phone. I can also hear the spring mechanism go off when I move the top only 1/8 of an inch. I guess my question is, is this normal for this type of phone, or is it defective in some way? Either way, it's getting pretty annoying, and making me doubt the structural integrity of the phone. I just don't see it lasting 2-3 years, especially when its doing this only a week into use with extreme care and caution. Should I try to get a replacement?

it is not about the creaking sound from that plastic strip which you can shave down with an exacto knife.... it's the clicking noise when you tap on the screen's bottom right corner and top left corner back-n-forth in normal position.

i have a black one and it had really loosen up a lot more in the past couple days, and its only been 4 days!, and i've been very gentle with it.

the tmo store when i got my phone is expecting 50 phones, all black though, i will go and try my luck.

When the phone is closed, if I touch the lower right corner of the screen there is a click as the top piece touches the bottom, there is a small gap, the screen part does not fit snugly against the bottom (keyboard section). If I press somewhere else then the screen separates slightly and then I can press the bottom right again and have a slight click and can feel it move. Sort of like the screen is floating a bit above the base of the phone.

Hope that makes sense. Anyone else have this or is it just I got a bad one? It is a bit annoying when you are pressing on the screen and can feel and slightly hear the click of the top (screen section) hitting the bottom (keyboard section). This is only noticeable when the phone is 'closed'. I would think the workmanship would be better but have nothing to compare it to, I've only used flip phones in the past, switching from a razr to this G1.

    Thanks,
    Eric

Mine had that issue and I took it back to T-Mobile and exchange it

I have read on Tmo's forum that the screen on bronze are more snug fitted.

    Bronze G1 owners please confirm...
I had the black one and exchanged it for the Bronze but when I got the Bronze I had the screen issue and it was not snug at all. I exchange it for another black one. So I am on my 3rd G1 and the black one seems to be more snug to me.

I just noticed mine today. Geez thanks for mentioning it lol. I heard that the rubber snap on case pretty much fixes the problem. We will see when mine comes in.

I believe that the bottom right corner of the screen is caused by constantly snapping your phone open... or maybe I'm wrong.
