my understanding is that it functions like linux-swap except it has better compatibility with compcache. giving you 100% Good compress. btw, does backing swap wear down the sd card?
ok i'll try to do it by myself
but u can tell me what does backswapping do?

swap = a place to temporarliy store stuff in ram, to create more space.
a normal swap partition is on some sort of storage device, like you store files on
compcache is a special swap partition -- it creates a sort of swap partition inside the ram itself -- how does this help if it's just moving from ram, to another part of ram you might ask -- well it compress's what it "swaps" to create more space.
But what if you want compcache to have a place to spill over to -- a real swap partition it can use -- that is where backing swap comes in.(you could also use linuxswap, but that is managed by linux, while the backingswap is just like linuxswap except that compcache can manage it, so it plays well together)
Do note -- that if you do not have one -- you will need to create a linux swap partition on your SD card -- this is detailed in my post -- NOTE: the method linked to -- will delete everything on the SD card -- so make a copy on your computer first!
i have edited the files and put them back in the sdcard and the step where to enable it it says init: Device or resource busy![]()

Ok, so here's my problem:
My GoodCompress remains in the 60s and 70s when making the edits to enable backing swap. Now, the problem MIGHT be, that I only cp'ed user.conf because it was the only one that I changed. Might I have had to cp both again?
I tried making the same changes to userinit as well, in case that's the problem, and compcache and swap stopped working entirely. Hmm...

Did you already have compcache enabled without backingswap before you started this? If so -- you don't have to do that last part -- just reboot the phone and run
and see if it says anything about backing swap at the topCode:rzscontrol /dev/block/ramzswap0 -s
p.s. I am going to edit post to clarify about this![]()
bdb, I just checked with that code, and it doesn't say anything about backing swap, so, she's a no go for me so far![]()

yeap i have already enable compcache
i did rebooted the first time but the good compress was still at 68% , i thought that may be i didn't changed the values of either one of the files so i did again lets see if it shows a good compress of 100%

Ahhah, stupid me. My fault. I do not have a 3rd partition on the SD card, that'd be the problem. Does making this third partition erase my Apps2SD as well? I may just hang out with what I have...
