Actually, it probably won't sell because the Google's native implementation will come out soon. The IMF and IME are slated for Q1 of 2009.
Has anyone considered coming up with an app for input of Chinese language (Pinyin)? I've noticed that the G1 has no other support for other languages that do not use the English alphabet.
China is a huge market, and if someone manages to come up with such an app/add-on and sell it for USD5 a pop, someone is going to be pretty well-off pretty quickly![]()

Oh good, I wonder if that's something we can download and flash into the device, like RC29.![]()
Yes, they will be. Because they are part of the Android road map, I think we can infer that they are also part of the OS and released as an update to it. If I am not mistaken, IMF will arrive before the specific IMEs. IMEs are more difficult to implement, especially for something like Chinese. However, both are slated for Q1 of next year. So, if someone goes through the pain and suffering to write an IME for Chinese now, his or her product will likely be short lived.
Oh, good, that's something to look forward to the new year
