Not that I know of
is it any way to change the application tab background if you have the htc hero theme which is all black to the grey mesh look?
Not that I know of
The file is called "pattern_carbon_fiber_dark.png" it is located in Launcher.apk/res/drawable, good luck with it..![]()
figured that didn't see any files I could change was just curious.
Like my previous post said the file is called "pattern_carbon_fiber_dark.png" you will find it inside of Launcher.apk inside the drawable directory which is inside the res directory. Changes to this file are temperamental and may cause issues with icons displaying improperly. You will need to modify the file, place it back in the Launcher.apk, resign the file - either push it with adb (may wreak havok on your phone as it is always in use), or create an update.zip with it.
If all of this sounds too much for you, I suggest you find a theme that suits your needs, and leave well enough alone.
If you already have a theme that you like, and an idea for how you want it to look (maybe some color?), I might be able to throw you a quick update.zip with a modified file. I would make no claims to the stability of the modified file, and assume no responsibility if it causes your phone to crap out on you.
I had planned on trying to make mine transparent before, but it doesn't work out too well. I was thinking of giving it a blue tint today, but hadn't found the time. I am about to give that a shot though, and will let you know how it goes.
Just flashed, made it a dark blue tint. It didn't mess anything up, can't say it looks that different then it did before..
I am going to try making it even more blue, see what happens. If you have a special request, let me know, it may help if you attach your current Launcher.apk, I might be in a good enough mood to do it for you tonight...
I made it really blue, it turned out nice (or I think it did). I am adding a screenshot so you can see how it turned out. I think a solid (or close to solid) color pattern is the best choice, I can just add a color overlay to the current file that way.

i found the file i tried to create a new zip and named it update i then dumped all of the folders from the HTC Hero Theme 1.3.5 zip in the new update.zip.
from a previous build of cyanogen and moved it into the new folder pattern_carbon_fiber_dark now when i went into recovery and tried to update the zip it gave me an error saying bad Launcher.apk file how to i by pass that error.
You have to resign the files that you are modifying, you also need to resign the update.zip as well.
You also need to be careful since you are modifying a full system update, if you get something wrong (without doing a Nandroid backup) you may toast your current build, and need to flash (possibly even wipe) it again from scratch. You would be best to create an update that only changes the Launcher.apk (since that is the only file you are changing). This requires a new update script. Here is a zip you can use, drop your resigned Launcher.apk into the system/app directory, resign the zip file and you should be good to flash with it.

i never resigned a zip before, how do i go about doing so.
You can use the auto-signing tool, there is more information about this here. That page tells you how to setup everything you need to modify your own theme.
preciate the help ill read up on it and give you some feed back to see if it worked.
