i dont remeber where i read this but.. i remeber comin across a thread or at cyanogen website... that some people were lossing root after intalling the rooted base...
I have a Android Dev phone. I was trying to load the new 4.1999 version of CM.
I was at 4.1.11 of CM ROM, I had 1.4 Recovery Image loaded.
As per instruction I loaded the stock recovery image of 1.6 from the HTC website. I think I did something stupid at this point and instead of flashing 4.1999 I think I hit wipe. What that caused for some odd reason is when I went back to recovery mode I lost my CM 1.4 Recovery Image and was back to stock recovery image. so I'm stuck with the stock 1.6 recovery image. I've been trying to load the 1.4 recovery image back on but in terminal emulator it gives me the "permission denied" error. Thinking that I should try using another ROM that come with the tools I've tried flashing cm 4.1.11, stock 1.5, Hero Roms... and the stupid thing won't let me flash ANY of them.
I put the image in the sdcard, name it update.zip. go to recovery mode and tell it to use the update.zip. It goes through the verification stage but when it gets to install image it promptly aborts the installation.
At this point I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?
Thank you

hm, thats weird, i think you should try FlashRec app, the 1 click root thing, see if that works, if not, try rooting with this guide

use method B
yea, you have lost root access, it is an easy process getting it back, especially with the 1 click root app! tell me how it goes. good luck
How did you put cyans rom an d recovery on in the first place , recovery flasher ?

but how did you get it on your phone? Terminal way.. (flash_image recovery /sdcard/...?)
I've noticed this with the recovery flasher . The recovery that is used isn't perminent . You havre to install the recovery manually after . And since you never actually rooted your phone , you don't have root anymore . I wiped by accident the first time I was trying for 4.1.99 , and I still have root because I rooted manually . All the recovery flasher does is exploit a security hole to use cyans recovery 1.4 , its never yours , its the apps . And since you wiped , you lost it . Try rooting manually or the recovery flasher again . Only this time , install the recovery manually after . Its not your fault , you had no way of knowing .
Sorry did not understand the earlier question. yes I had used terminal emulator to pu the cm1.4 recovery image on the first time around.
As for the one click root thing, I installed recovery flasher app, it supposedly let me download the cm1.4 recovery image to my phone but the "Flash recovery image" button is grayed out. The backup recovery image function fails.
