Call waiting notification isn't working?

My call waiting isn't working. I get the notification on the phone but I don't get the beep? Any idea why this might be happening?

Check if Call wating notification is on.

Settings>Call Setting>Additional call settings

If unchecked, check Call Waiting

yeah i know whats happening. the G1 is buggy. man i feel like debbie downer everytime someone makes these posts about something not working, but i have had all these issues.
