Okay quick example. Say I'm on the call screen and want to mute the phone by just short pressing the camera button instead of muting the call by pressing menu.

Also say ur playing music and your on the homescreen or in another app other than the music app and short press the camera button to pause and resume the music. And long pressing the volume keyts to change the song instead of the volume increasing and decreasing faster.

Anybody think an app would be able to accomplish this type of stuff?

The use of the camera button and the volume buttons haven't been integrated enough in our apps..

for example It can be used as:

-Switch between convos in IM's
-FORWARD button for web browser anyone????
-extra button for games...

stuff like that would be perfect.

but of course when you hold it, then it will go to Camera..(soon video camera) mode

So when your listening to music and you hit the VOLUME button it does nothing to the volume? Im sorry but I fail to see the logic in that. But I do like the concept of using the camera and volume buttons for other things. A forward and back button on the browser would be an excellent idea!

Forward and back buttons would be so convinient.. and also there should be some sort of fix for the flipping page refresh everytime you "exit" the browser and go back to it.

I could totally see a use for this. The phone is in your pocket, on your arm while jogging, on the seat next to you in the car, you wanna change the track without having to pick it up and look at it.
i would love to assign the camera button to speaker phone toggle, rather than having to unlock the phone, hit menu and select speaker.
or if it could toggle ringer profiles...
