Default Android Engine to Make Game Development Easier?

The iPhone has the Unity3D engine, and soon you will be able to take a Flash game and run a utility to turn it into an app. Is there anything like that for Android? It's been over a year since I wrote my one released Android app (Mars Lander), and I've got some other games I'd like to do for Android if there's a good tool to help with resource management and a nice GUI level editor or such.

Yes, I am (somewhat obviously) familiar with the SDK and using it with Eclipse. But that's a bit of a confining environment compared to CS5 and Unity3D. So I'm hoping things have progressed to the point where I can spend less time programming and more time designing.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

You might want to check my blog, it only has a few posts so far, but one of them is actually aimed at an Android Game Engien. It's 2D though, I'm not sure if you are after a 3D game engine, if yes you should probably take a look at Unity3D, which does indeed provide some functionality for the Android platform, it is shareware though.

Here's the link to my blog, in case your are interested:

Plus I'd like to note that you really won't ever get around the programming part, it's not like you can just simply design your game and you get a good working, unique game which will rock the Market. If that was the case we'd have millions of good games on the Android Market, which we sadly don't.

    Kind Regards

I agree to the above. Some like to be game designer than game programmer so if there is a tool to ease the programming part it will be like a god-sent gift and we would have millions of good games in Android Market isn't it? Let's wait a-while to see if such a tool is created or not.
